May the force be with you

A fellow quilt guild member, Melinda, designed a GORGEOUS patchwork Death Star paper pieced pattern. It's on her blog: http://quirkygranolagirl.blogspot.com/2014/04/patchwork-death-star-pattern.html?m=1

I have never done any English paper piecing other than my hexies, so this was a huge leap out of my comfort zone.

I have been sharing my progress on Instagram with Melinda's hashtag #patchworkdeathstar.

Anyway, I finished the handsewing tonight. Now I need to think about how to quilt it. I have never hand quilted so I may try it out. But I am thinking about some machine stitches that might improve the look of my Death Star.

Here it was before I sewed the two halves together. Sewed together it looks a little stretched out and misshapen but I know it will be fine once I block it and press it .
